Learning new Programming Skills through MIT's Scratch
In this assignment, I worked through a series of tutorials on the use of mit.edu's "scratch" program, a simple programming tool revolving around the creation of animations and games using block programming, with the intent of expanding on the problem solving skills that came out of Code.org.
The project covered 7 successive tutorials, ranging from at its simplest a movement tutorial to a maze game tutorial at the most complex. Each tutorial built on the previous to create a series of simple games with defined goals.
This project largely built on the principles of code.org, and from it I was able to become much more familiar with the use of programming techniques. It also occasionally strained my proofreading and problem solving skills as I strained against the limitations of the tool.
Below you will find the final products of the seven tutorials, ordered in two columns of descending order, from the "Packman" tutorial to the "Catwalk1" tutorial, you can see the progressive complexity of the tutorials and how they build together. At the top of the column is the prototype of a custom game built using scratch and the techniques taught by the tutorials.
